Right about now you might be hitting plateaus with results or challenges with sticking with the strategies in the first few days of this weight balancing challenge. Review our previous strategies in this health challenges here.
Allow yourself recipes that are lower calorie versions of what you like as “splurge dishes” or “comfort food” to stay on track. These sites have a boat load of great ideas:
Also, understand that plateaus are normal. Nutritionists usually define a plateau as 7 or more days when weight loss has not occurred. Scale is just stuck. Yet, because we are a society that wants things right away, we can see a few days with no scale movement as a plateau.
Drink more water to help your body move toxins out. You might also gently increase alkaline items in the diet–reach for that Suja uber greens juice as a snack, get an extra serving of raw cucumbers and drink more kombucha.
If you were hitting it hard and heavy with exercise, go softer. Sometimes the body perceives exercise as stress and will hold on to weight in response to stress. If you were only performing gentle movements, try interval training with 30 seconds of hard and heavy and 10 seconds of more moderate for 4-5 minutes, followed by the gentle movements.
The main point is that everyone hits a point where they feel they are doing everything possible and the scale is not moving. Remember this is not just about the scale moving but achieving better health. Sit down and make a list of how you are feeling overall since you started this health commitment challenge. Notice how much more energy you have–how your sleep has improved. Don’t give up.
